KCBR Year End High-Point Open Saddle:  following proposal by Sheri Powers-

As KCBR strives to give great year end awards for our hard work and great horses, I would like to propose that we try an “award series” saddle opportunity.  As we have a very limited budget, that is contingent on our money maker/fund raiser efforts, it is unlikely that we can “foot the bill” entirely on the club.  As sponsorships are getting harder and harder to procure, we need to try a method that will not financially impact the club.  We will look to gain sponsorship for this, but can not count on it.  So I propose a nomination fee of $20.00 per horse rider combination IN THE OPEN CLASS.  (One saddle this year, for high point year end OPEN horse).

I (Sheri & Terry Powers/Wind Dance Australian Shepherds) will sponsor up to $200.00 as needed towards this effort should it be approved.  Hopefully we will get 25 to 30 girls that will participate in the nomination option, netting us $500-600.00, the club would need to pick up the remainder cost of the saddle, and or get other sponsorships.  Depending on Sponsors, nominated horse/riders, and Club’s cost will determine the type/style of saddle.  Cecil Philips/Shiloh Saddle has provided the Rodeo Clubs saddle series saddles for about $1000.00.

Rules/Guidelines:

One High Point saddle will be awarded to the horse rider combination that earns the most points throughout the 2010 race season.

Only horse/riders in the Open Division are eligible for the High Point saddle 2010.

All Open Division riders are eligible for high point saddle award; IF/WHEN nomination fee of $20.00 is paid.

Rider may nominate more then one horse; each horse/rider combination will require a $20.00 nomination fee.

Nomination fee can be paid any time throughout the year, but prior to first race will give rider most opportunity to earn points toward saddle.  Only points earned after horse/rider is nominated will be counted toward the High-Point Saddle.

All points earned in the OPEN through out the 2010 point race season, regardless of Division placed in, will be used in the average to determine year end overall saddle winner.

You may run in, and are encouraged to, run in more then the “award required” four races per season.  But you must run in at least four races to be eligible, just as in all award earnings.

At the end of the race season, October race, all Open points earned in any Open Division (1D,2D, 3D, 4D) will be used to determine the average high point winner of year end saddle.  The saddle will be awarded at the annual awards banquet in November.

If there is a tie, a run off will be run between those horse/riders in the tie.  This will be as with any other ties for awards, and completed either at the last point race, or as scheduled.  If one or more rider/horse does not show up for the run off, it will be automatically awarded to the rider/horse that does show.  Rider must ride horse that has earned them the points throughout the series.  If none of the riders show for the run off, saddle will be determined by the toss of a coin.

Rodeo Board Invitation/Rodeo participation:  Christina has been contacted by the rodeo board again this year to participate in the evening rodeo Posse show.  We will have run off like last year for top eight riders.  She proposes that we use the May, June, July and August races times this year, no stand alone race.  Only three of the four races will count towards riders’ average time, and must declare which races.  There will be a $25.00 nomination fee.  We will try and to the additional awards, top eight girls will pay the $50.00 entry fee, and the club will try and have additional monies for the show, as well as the buckle.

Bailey Minor was voted in as the new board of Director position, as the leaving of Marsha Jensen

Adrienne Grasher has filled the position of KCBR Newsletter
